Day 030...DrywallI believe that we are almost caught up on our documentation of the new home build. Today we are going to focus on the drywall portion of the home.
The drywall was hauled into the home a few days ago. It has been spread out so that it isn't in the way when they start to hang it. The drywall comes in sheets and is screwed to the wall. When it is installed, the joints are staggered, so there is not a seam that runs from floor to ceiling. This is done to help prevent them from showing after the mud is installed later, and to try to control shifting as the house settles. This can get to be a very dusty job, as the drywall breaks down into a fine powder as each sheet is cut to fit into coners and wall to ceiling junctions. Once all the sheeting has been hung in the home, the drywallers will go through and mud the joints to get a uniform looking wall surface. We will cover that when they start on that portion of the job.
