Need a kickout?
This is also a common problem, routinely found during every home inspection. At the time of this inspection the gutters were being replaced, so they are not present. But by looking at this damage, a home inspector can guess that there was not a kickout diverter installed here either.
A kick out flashing, is installed at the gutter where the roof meets the wall. It will push water away from the wall, so it will not run down the wall and cause more damage, especially to wood siding like we have here. Without this type of flashing, we typically will see damage like we have here.
